Principal’s Message
Wow oh wow, what a busy, inspiring, and exciting week we’ve had around Glacier Hills! From civic engagement to world-class inspiration, our students engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning every single day.

National AVID Day (Tuesday)
We kicked off the week celebrating National AVID Day across all grade levels. Our classrooms were filled with students practicing key AVID strategies, building strong community ties through relational capacity activities, and working together to solve problems.

Constitution Day & 5th Grade Biztown Mayor (Thursday)
On Thursday, our school celebrated Constitution Day as classes learned about the foundations of our nation’s government. Our 5th graders tied this directly into their preparation for their upcoming field trip to JA City Biztown on October 19th by exploring what it truly means to be a responsible citizen. To put citizenship into action, our 5th grade went through a real-world election process:
Class Primaries: Each class nominated a classmate to run for Mayor of Biztown.
Campaign Speeches & Voting: Candidates delivered outstanding speeches outlining their values and how they will represent their peers. Every 5th grader registered to vote and cast their official ballot.
Announcing Mayor Eyana! After counting the votes, we are thrilled to announce our official Mayor of Biztown 2026: Eyana! Every candidate did a remarkable job, and we are so proud of their leadership.

NameTags Assembly & Book Fair Previews (Friday)
Friday was an action-packed end to our week! We started the morning with a powerful NameTags assembly featuring special guest Zach Miller—pro snowboarder, 2-time World Champion, 2-time Paralympian, and 2023 ESPY award winner for Best Athlete with a Disability. Zach shared his personal story about resilience and the various “nametags” we all wear in life. It was an incredibly inspiring presentation, and our students represented Glacier Hills amazingly well with outstanding behavior. Finally, students enjoyed Book Fair previews throughout the day to scout out their favorite books ahead of our upcoming Grandparents Lunch and Parent-Teacher Conferences.Thank you for your continued support in making Glacier Hills such a vibrant community!

Upcoming Grandparents Lunch:
Glacier Hills would like to invite Grandparent’s to join us for lunch during parent teacher conference week. If a student doesn’t have a grandparent that can attend, they can invite an important adult in their life. The Grandparent’s lunch will be held on both Monday September 21st and Wednesday September 23rd. We will be giving each grandparent a visitor sticker to identify adults in the building. Due to new security policies from the legislature, grandparents will only be able to go to lunch and visit the book fair. We cannot have grandparents or adults walking students back to their classrooms or pods. Thank you for helping with safety.

Grandparents are invited to bring their own lunch (NO school lunch provided for visiting adults).  They may bring a lunch for their student as well if they would like. Grandparents and students will eat in the gym anytime between 11:00 and 1:15. Please come to the school lobby NO Earlier than 11:00 to check in, and a member of our AVID Ambassadors will bring your student to meet you. Below are the recommended days by last name.

Please do not hesitate to come on the other day if that best suits your schedule.
Monday, 9/21- last names A-J

We will be giving each grandparent a visitor sticker to identify adults in the building.*Due to capacity issues, please limit 2 adults to each student. If there are two sets of grandparents, they are encouraged to each come a different day.

Grandparents are invited to visit the book fair with their grandchildren after lunch (ending at 1:45pm). It will be held in the media center which is directly above the office on the second floor of the school.

Parent Teacher Conferences and Book Fair:

Annoucements
Our first Thrive Time unit has started! Thrive time is about teaching students skills and critical competencies to be successful in school and life. It is broken into 6 units, we just began the first unit at Glacier Hills- Goal Setting. You can find more information for families here

This year, we are asking middle school students who pick up their younger siblings to wait in the front of the school rather than the back. In the past, we have experienced situations where some middle school students have been unkind toward our elementary students. To help ensure a safe and positive environment for all of our students, we are asking middle school students to wait in the front of the school, where additional adults can provide supervision.Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to create a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students.
A colorful flyer titled 'Say Boo to the Flu' advertises a school immunization clinic at Glacier Hills Elementary on Monday, 9/21/26, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Boo To the Flu Clinic

There will be flu vaccinations offered in the gym on Monday, Sept 21st from 4:00-7:00.
