Get Involved at Glacier Hills Elementary
Glacier Hills Elementary will open in the fall of 2022, but it isn’t too early to get involved as a parent leader. Both the Glacier Hills PTA and School Community Council will be created and operating in the next couple of months. Parents may volunteer for both.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
PTA will be the recognized parent group at Glacier Hills. PTA leadership includes a President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Advocacy VP and commissioners (possibly health and safety, teacher appreciation, Reflections Art, family life or others). This first group of parents will choose how to structure the PTA at Glacier Hills.
The initial meeting will happen October 5 at 4:30 p.m. at Bell View Elementary.
Two committees will be selected at the October 5 meeting: bylaws and nominating. These committees will do their work between October 5 – October 14.
The organization meeting will take place on November 9, 4:30 p.m. at Bell View Elementary. This is where Glacier Hills PTA becomes official! Please attend and be one of the first members of the Glacier Hills PTA!
PTA tends to volunteer during the day and provide the extra special touches that will make our school amazing. They will assist with classroom parties, student incentives, faculty appreciation, arts programs, Health and Safety weeks (Say no to drugs and safe digital citizenship), and more.
School Community Council (SCC)
SCC is an elected group of educators, parents and the principal who work on school plans and allocate certain funds. This group will study school data and determine where to focus efforts for the greatest academic achievement.
Parents interested in serving on the SCC should submit their names by October 11 via email to Julia.winfree@canyonsdistrict.org. Please include your name, contact information, the school you currently attend, the grades your children will be in at Glacier Hills in the fall of 2022, and a short paragraph about why you would like to be elected to the SCC. There will be up to 10 parent seats open to serve on the SCC.
• The Glacier Hills SCC will begin work in January on the 2022-23 LAND Trust plans, TSSP plans, positive behavior plan and any other necessary advisory items.
