All-day kindergarten has arrived at Glacier Hills thanks to a state grant program that is making it possible for Canyons District to expand its early childhood programs. A total of 13 CSD schools now offer all-day kindergarten with plans to add more as additional state funding becomes available.
“We are so grateful for this funding and what it will mean for families,” said Canyons Instructional Supports Director Amber Roderick-Landward. “Utah families have spoken and said they want this for their children. There’s demand for it, and we know from years of research that it sets up children for educational and economic success well into their college years and beyond.”
Glacier Hills’ all-day kindergarten classes were made possible by a legislatively-approved grant, which awarded funding to schools that have room to grow and showed a demonstrated need. Canyons received a sizeable grant and will pursue additional funding as it becomes available.
Any kindergarten-age child in Utah can apply to permit into our all-day program. Students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2022 to participate. Families enrolled on a permit must provide transportation to and from school.
