Hello Glacier Hills Community,

The weather was crazy last week!  I hope the next few weeks are a little more predictable.   Please make sure students are coming with coats, gloves, appropriate shoes, and hats so that they are prepared to go outside for recess.

Kindergarten Enrollment:  Parents, please follow this if you have a kindergartner next year, we would also love your help to get the word out if you have a neighbor or friend in the Glacier Hills boundaries that has a kindergartner coming to our school next year.

It is time to enroll your Kindergartener into Glacier Hills for the 2024-2025 school year, if you have a student who will be age five on or before September 1, 2024.

Drop off and Pick up Concerns:  Over the past few weeks we have had some concerning situations during drop off and pick up.  Cars are pulling up into the parking lot and dropping kids off without parking.   This is causing a backup in the parking lot and kids are walking between cars.  If you would like to park your car and drop off students, that is great, please just make sure you park and walk them to the crosswalk.

We also have an increasing number of cars cutting in line. We have cars speeding up, zigging and zagging in and out of traffic to get ahead in line. Please be patient as we need our students and parents to be safe.   It really only takes a few minutes.

Lastly, people are pulling in front of cars, nearly clipping bumpers just as cars start to pull forward.  Please slow down and wait until it is safe to pull forward.  If everyone has students exit the car as soon as they pull up to the curb, we can really move traffic.  It is when we have parents wait to get to the front door to let students out, that we really slow down the procedure. Please watch the teachers and Ms. Gretchen as they will guide you.

Teacher of the Year– https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/general-news/laud-csd-teachers-with-nominations-for-2024-teacher-of-the-year/  It is time to celebrate our amazing teachers again. This year we will not be sending home paper copies, it will all be done online.  Please help us to select a Glacier Hills Teacher of the Year.  This teacher will go on to be considered for Canyons District’s overall Teacher of the Year.

Criteria:  The Teacher of the Year must have taught at least one year. The teacher must have demonstrated ability to reach students at all levels, establishes and maintain positive learning environments, uses a variety of evidence-based instructional techniques to provide students with a high-quality education, and is responsive to parents and patrons.
