SCC Chair Update & Calendar – no updates

Safety Drills Report – Hazardous Materials Drill

• Safety drill took place on 2/7/2024
• Reverse evacuation drill, if outside come inside
• Continue to teach as normal, keeping students in the classroom
• March drill – Carbon Monoxide drill
• January – Fire evacuation drill, has to be 10 days after the start of school and then 10 days after winter break.
• April – Earthquake drill
• Up to date and current on drills

Review of council’s stewardship items

• Land Trust Funds and TSSA budgets- order textbooks for 4th and 5th grade, on track with expectations, avid binders, started ordering game room items, ordered Yeti swag for the PBIS store for students. Looking like having about 5% to roll over.

• Budget: PBIS rewards, Stem teacher, Mrs. Gretchen for full time, taking teachers to AVID training in summer, half of social worker salary, interventionist, planning days, IEP days, recess aide
• Moving forward would like to add interventionist

• Fundraiser – made $12,000, positive feedback from students, success

Final Report for 2022 – 2023 school year – Looking for growth

• Rolled over  2684.63
• 49% of students meeting benchmark goals
• Our goal 70% – we got 58%
• Keeping 70% as goal for school year 2024 – 2025
• Want to up rigor with Avid, push high expectations with students
• Teachers would like Math interventionists as well the reading interventionists.

• • Looking to push a school wide reading incentive next year

Mathematics

• 46% of students met benchmark
• Our goal was 80% – reached 64%
• District has a goal to meet more often to talk about Math

Looking for options to help those students who are coming in that are newcomers/ non english speakers

Parent questions

• Can parents get a visual of what it means, something tangible that parents can see with how their students are doing compared to the benchmark
• Programs or resources to help parents support students
• Attendance incentive and reading incentive, literacy night early in the school year
• Sora has an ability to read the passage to the students and help parents understand where the students should be.

District Focus Items

  • Parent worries
    • Schools typically get last pick, worried about who would be placed in the school
    • Concerned about who would be applying
    • School to be able to have a hand in choosing who would be placed in the school
    • Can only be there for 5 years, police rotation
  • District would have to pay for it
