Hello Glacier Hills Community!
I want to thank you for supporting our Halloween Parade and parties last week. I know several community members were not in support of moving the parade and parties to Friday and others felt it was a good idea. We appreciate your flexibility this year! Next year Halloween falls Friday and the following two years it falls on a weekend, so Friday will be a perfect day for festivities. We would also like to thank all the parents that sent donations and volunteered at the Halloween parties, they were a great success!
Veterans Day assembly – This Friday, Nov. 8th at 9:45 AM, we will be holding our annual Veterans Day Assembly. We would like to invite any veterans in the community and their families to attend a small breakfast at 9:15 and then they will proceed to the assembly at 9:45 AM. Attached you will find a poster for families to fill out to be displayed in the hallway at Glacier Hills. A hard copy was also sent home for you. https://docs.google.com/document/d/16FCtQwZ3xCa7y_Thed2fdzP6BMXah42M/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=113769776504027874636&rtpof=true&sd=true
If your veteran is planning to attend, please fill out this RSVP by tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 4th.
Attendance – Our students averaged 94%! Our 3rd grade had the best attendance at 96% average, way to go 3rd graders!
Here are the staff highlights for some of our favorite books. This week we have Mrs. Whitney and Mrs. Skillman.
Mrs. Jessica Whitney, 4th Grade Teacher:
As a young child, I initially had a difficult time finding what genre of books I enjoyed. My mom bought me the first Harry Potter book, but it wasn’t until a friend recommended the series later that I sat down and read it. The magic and fantasy world had me hooked! It was this series that made me realize how much I really love reading, and it has become an activity that I now do daily. I hope to help other children find their love for reading as well.
Mrs. Ashley Skillman, 2nd Grade Teacher:
One of my favorite book series growing up were the Nancy Drew Mystery Series. In these book, Nancy Drew helps solve crimes and mysteries in her small town. I loved all the clues that were spread throughout the book and the excitement of what would happen next. I often stayed up late to read “just one more chapter” and quickly found myself finishing an entire book in one night.
