| Principal’s Message A quick reminder that Picture Retakes will take place on Tuesday, October 21st. If your child missed picture day or you’d like a new photo taken, this is the perfect opportunity. Just a reminder, next week, October 20–22, will be full school days (no early dismissal) for all students, followed by Fall Break October 23–27, returning to school October 28th. We hope everyone enjoys a restful and fun long weekend when it arrives! We’re also excited to share more about how students can earn tokens for our Yeti Book Vending Machine each month! Each class will receive two tokens: One token will be entered into a random drawing based on reading minutes logged in Beanstack. The second token will be awarded by the teacher for literacy-based progress, such as strong growth on Acadience progress monitoring, excellent effort during ELA, or consistent engagement in reading. We can’t wait to see students motivated and celebrating their reading success through these fun rewards! Thank you for continuing to support literacy at home, it makes such a difference. |
Halloween is quickly approaching! We will be holding our annual Halloween Parade as well as our classroom parties on Friday, Oct. 31st. The parade will start at 9:15 inside and we will proceed outside to the parade route around 9:30. Parents are encouraged to line the parade route and cheer us on. We are following the same parade route as last year. Parking is challenging on Halloween. You are encouraged to park in one of the two church lots across the street from the school. We would love you to then spread out throughout the route so we have the community and parents cheering us all along the route. We will have the 5th grade lead us and then have 4, 3, 2, 1, and Kinder follow. Please help your child to pick an appropriate costume. Here are some guidelines: No face masks or full-face paint. We need to be able to visually identify students in costumes. Costumes that are provocative, revealing, sexual in nature or employ questionable props are not permitted. Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs are not permitted. Fake (or real) weapons are not permitted. Costumes that can be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not permitted. Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in classes Costumes should include shoes Costumes and dressing up is optional Here is the parade route and map. |

Currently we have 89% of our students who have logged their reading on beanstack! We have logged 231,365 total minutes of our 550,000 minutes goal! Our top classes currently are: Ms. Robbin’s Class Ms. Curtis’ Class Ms. Case’s Class We are continuing our tradition of “Fastest Class in the School” challenge this year, where each class in the school participates. I have them continuously run for 5 minutes (or walk, or jog – they always have the choice!). But we don’t stop for 5 minutes! Each lap is counted on a hand counter, and then I divide that number by the number of students in class that day, for average laps per student. It has proven to be a fun way to get students moving, focus on heart health, and increase stamina! I wanted to announce our overall school winner, as well as each grade winner. These classes will have their picture displayed on our poster outside of the gym, and the title of “Fastest Class in the School” until the next times we test, in January and April. The following are our fall winners: Overall Fastest Class: WILSON! 5th grade: CASE 4th grade: WHITNEY 3rd grade: KVAAL 2nd grade: HANDLEY 1st grade: BEUTLER Kinder: ROUNDY |
Being on time each day makes a big difference for both students and teachers. To encourage strong attendance, each time 92% of a class is on time and present, their teacher adds a puzzle piece to the class’s Attendance Yeti. Once the Yeti is complete, students get to spin one of two prize wheels—one with exciting activity-based rewards like the Blizzard Blast Zone or a Read-a-Thon, and another with fun Yeti-themed items like erasers or sunglasses. Here’s how our grade-level attendance averaged out this past week: Kindergarten: 91% 1st Grade: 93% 2nd Grade: 90% 3rd Grade: 95% 4th Grade: 93% 5th Grade: 88% Overall School Attendance: 94% |
