Good evening Yeti Families,
It was amazing to have so many families visit Glacier Hills last week. It was fun to see parents and grandparents at lunch and conferences. We also had great attendance at our Parent Teacher Conferences. We would like to thank the PTA for hosting the book fair and a wonderful dinner for the teachers.
We would like to send out a huge thank you to the Jordan High school girls’ volleyball team. The volleyball team attended our lunch recess and modeled inclusion and kindness with our students. The students had such a fun time playing with the volleyball team. We hope to have some other high school teams join us in the future.
Please help us to keep students safe at the crosswalks. The crossing guard on Galena at the west side of the school is asking for your help. Cars have been driving really fast, not slowing down, and running straight through the crosswalk. Several people have been on their phone and have not looked up. It is becoming increasingly unsafe. Friday afternoons seem especially bad. Please help us by slowing down and being aware of safety.
Last week I notified the community that we had a lot of unpaid lunch balances. We had many families reach out and we realized that the district never set up phone call reminders about lunch balances. This was corrected midweek and phone calls started to go out. Many families were unaware of balances and some had inconsistencies in the accounts. The nutrition services department is happy to answer questions and work with families. Please call 801-826-5381 if you have concerns or questions. Instructions for paying lunch balances are attached.
Remote-Learning Day – Monday March 6th
Tomorrow, Monday, March 6 will be a Remote-Learning Day for all Canyons District students. Glacier Hills teachers sent home packets on Thursday, March 2nd. We will resume in-person learning on Tuesday, March 7th.
PTA News:
The Glacier Hills PTA would like to congratulate Amelia Green in 2nd grade. Amelia’s art piece, entitled Me & My Big Sister, earned her an Award of Excellence at the Canyons District Region 17 Reflections award ceremony. She will represent Canyons School District in the 2D Visual Arts category for grades K-2 at the Utah state level! We couldn’t be more proud of Amelia and all our amazing artists who participated in the Reflections program this year!
Next year’s theme is: I AM HOPEFUL BECAUSE….. and we can’t wait to see what our students create this fall!
Thank you so much for visiting the Book Fair during Parent Teacher conferences and Grandparents Lunch! At our fair last week, the Glacier Hills PTA was able to donate almost $4000 worth of books and supplies to teachers, staff and (most importantly) students! Because of your generous support, we will be able to continue to give scholastic dollars to the students and school at future fairs. Thank you again and we hope to see you at our next fair!
Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday, March 7th at 2:00 upstairs in the PTA room. Everyone is welcome to come as we discuss plans for the remainder of the year.
