Good evening, Glacier Hills families,
Last week was a great week at Glacier Hills! I am constantly impressed with the community, students, and teachers and the ability to quickly settle into a routine. Although we continue to make small changes to routines for improvement, our school is running well. Thank you for working together to make our school great!
Tomorrow we will have an assembly that will launch the PTA Fundraiser, the Reflections Contest, and our new Life Skills program called Thrive Time. Thrive Time will be taught on Mondays during Morning Meeting. Each class will spend time learning skills to help us be successful. We will learn about handling feelings, setting goals, making helpful decisions, respecting ourselves and others, supporting our community, and resolving conflict. This week, we will begin our Setting Goals unit. This unit goes along with the AVID program we are implementing.
Parent Teacher Conferences – Scheduling for Parent Teacher Conferences opened on Friday. Conferences will be held on September 27th and 28th in the evening. Please note that school will release at 1:55 PM on Thursday September 28th and there is no school held on Sept. 29th.
Please sign up for your opportunity to speak to your child’s teachers as soon as possible. Available spots are first come first serve. Please login to your Skyward Family Access, go the left-hand side that says Conferences, then select an available conference time.
Grandparents Day
Glacier Hills would like to invite Grandparent’s to join us for lunch during parent teacher conference week. If a student doesn’t have a grandparent that can attend, they can invite an important adult in their life. The Grandparent’s lunch will be held on both September 28th and September 29th.
Grandparents are invited to bring their own lunch (NO school lunch provided for visiting adults). They may bring a lunch for their student as well if they would like. Grandparents and students will eat in the gym anytime between 11:00 and 1:00. Please come to the school lobby NO Earlier than 11:00 to check in, and a member of the student council will bring your student to meet you. Below are the recommended days by last name.
Please do not hesitate to come on the other day if that best suits your schedule.
Wednesday, 9/28- last names A-J
Thursday, 9/29 last names K-Z
Grade level lunches –
K 11:00 1st – 11:20, 2nd – 11:40, 3rd – 12:00. 4th- 12:20, 5th – 12:40
If grandparents have more than one grandchild, they can attend at one of the student’s lunches and we will have the other student(s) join.
*Tip for Grandparents- Know your student’s teacher and grade before you arrive at the school to speed up the process of being united with your student for lunch.
*Due to capacity issues, please limit 2 adults to each student.
Grandparents are invited to visit the book fair with their grandchildren after lunch. It will be held in the media center which is directly above the office on the second floor of the school.
Spirit Wear – The PTA has taken on selling Spirit Wear apparel this year. This is not a fundraiser; it is just a courtesy to our community. We would like to send a big thank you for organizing this awesome order. https://offsideapparel.com/glacierhills/shop/home
PTA News:
Field Trips! Family Week! Classic Skate Night! Book Blitz! Teacher Appreciation! These and so much more is funded by the PTA. To bring these programs to the school, the PTA needs to hold a fundraiser. This week begins our PTA Fundraiser. We will kick it off at an assembly tomorrow and end it with a movie night on the school field on Friday, September 22. Mark your calendars now for the date and watch for information to come home with your kids on Monday!
Reflections time is here! The theme this year is “I am hopeful because…”
