  1. Approval of Minutes from Last Meeting

Lori Salter and Kris Wilson

  1. Chair Update & Calendar
    • SCC Chair highlights upcoming deadlines and events (district & school)
  2. Compliance & Communications Check (new)
    • Ensure meeting notice was posted at least one week ahead on the school calendar / SCC page. The meeting is also posted in the ‘Yeti Yell’ sent to all parents by Mrs. Winfree.
    • Confirm draft minutes from prior meeting are available publicly
    • Review SCC member list and contact info on website
    • Review meeting schedule posted for the year
  3. Safety Drills / School Safety Report

This month was a ‘secure’ drill (with evacuation) – hands down much better, less talking this time around and quicker compliance. Overall much quicker time to line up and checkins.

Also one lockdown  drill – successfully executed with excellent results.

  1. Review of Council’s Stewardship Items – see attached document –
    • Update on LAND Trust Funds: budget, implementation, alignment to academic goals

Big budget items review: Included in attached document.  Every penny of our land trust budget goes to aides such as reading interventions, recess aids etc.

  • Teacher & Student Success Plan (TSSP) budget and progress

This budget is being used for some interventionists, AVID travel training for AVID leads, specifically the AVID national conference.  The district will pay for the summer training. Going forward we will not need as much training, due to 100% of the staff being trained. Money will probably go to LEXIA, ST Math, PBIS points etc. Again, refer to in-depth notes attached. Next year we anticipate 30k less in this fund because of the shrinking student body. In the boundary study, we are anticipated to lose 30 students for next year. We anticipate some grade levels being reduced to only three classes instead of four.

As a heads up, Cell tower money usually goes toward staff incentives. This is going to be about 4k. SCC members are looking into putting a cell tower on our building to draw in more funding and improve building reception.

  1. Safe Walking Routes Finalization

Route 6 no longer has actual painted crosswalks at those intersections. We requested they get some painted in or revise the plan. We also requested sidewalks on the south side of Galina drive to give walking students a safe place to walk off the busy road to get to Poppy and Amber Lane. We will follow up.

  1. Digital Citizenship Presentation / Plan – Aurielle Jennings digital citizenship coordinator was not available at the last minute and we will move this item to next month. Digital Citizenship curriculum will be taught during STEM and Media classes. It will be posted on the Yeti Yell when it is happening. There are also reminders about digital safety and citizenship during ‘thrive time’ and separate assemblies throughout the year are dedicated to digital citizenship and safety during red ribbon week.
    • Discuss steps toward submitting the Digital Citizenship Plan (due Nov. 1)
  2. School Technology Plan

About two years ago we had a discussion about not having cell phones or smart watches in class. The committee pushed back and asked for watches that have school modes. That has been working reasonably well as after the second infraction they can not use it at school any more. Kids have been mostly compliant under this system. Teachers struggle with this because sometimes grandma will call mid-class. Students will also sometimes pull it out during recess. Some of them have chat GBT and they can pull up a search for any question from their watch. Students are often confused why they can’t just get the answer that way rather than learning it. We are considering revising the current policy to adjust for smart watches and children who use the phone during recess.

  1. School Safety Plan

SCC decided the primary safety concerns were walking conditions to school are safely maintained to keep ice and snow off the sidewalks. A new sidewalk along the south side of Galina Drive between Antimony and Amber Lane is unsafe. Next meeting we will finish discussing the other issues.

  1. District Focus Items / Updates
  • Any items the district has asked for or provided that SCC should know about (e.g. policy updates, trainings)
  1. SCC Rules / Bylaws Review (new)
There was an update in bylaws and language. We also need updated dates on the bylaws.
  • Review “Rules of Order & Procedure”
  • Ensure bylaws are up to date and posted
  1. Member Concerns & Comments
  2. Next Steps / Action Items
  3. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm
