SCC meeting notes 9/4/24 5:15 PM

SCC Chair Update- No update

Safety Drills 

• Using new App
  • Crisis Go 
  • Several of the ESP employees did not have the app installed. 
  • Evacuated fine now everyone should have the app now
• Next drill will be lockdown
  • School feels like teachers are ready for the next drill
  • Will not evacuate this next month

Safe Walking Routes 

• Sego Lily is under construction
  • Some routes not safe because of the construction
  • Have a couple new routes for the time being but permanent routes will not be changing
• Added crossing guard to Flint and Galena crosswalks
  • 2 at the intersection

Create schedule of meetings for this year

• Thursdays at 5:15 
• Next meeting Oct. 10th
• Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 13, Mar. 13, April 3, May 8

District Focus Items – SCC trainings – must attend one 

• Schedule handed to all members

District 

• Purchase of the ebay building in Draper 

Member Concerns/ Comments – 

• Teachers love the new 1 hour planning time 
• Parents hate getting out later
• Hard on teachers because contract hours end at 4, after duty they don’t have anytime to do what they need to.
  • Contract hours – 8:05 – 4:05
• Parents want to know what teachers are doing during their extra hour of planning time, is this worth the extra time at the end of school.
  • Teachers –  1 day is PLCs
    • 1 day is team planning time
    • This gives them the opportunity to work at school and not have to work at home. 
  • Explanation to the community about what it is being used for.

New funds for helping with our bigger grades – 5th and Kinder

• 5th feels like they have enough support
• Kinder is getting 2 kinder aides to share among the 4 teachers
  • 70% well below benchmark
  • Have harder kids this year

TSA roll over – 20,000

• Recess Aides have a really rough job because of how much time they are outside
• Placed an ad a 4th recess aide

2 IEP days per month

• District is covering all the subs for both gen ed teachers and ACC 
• Special ed staff being able to do it during the day instead of staying all hours after school
